Laura M. Periman, MD
FOUNDERDr. Periman is a Cornea and Refractive Surgery Fellowship trained physician and surgeon with roots as a molecular biologist. As the Founder and Director of Dry Eye Services and Clinical Research at the Periman Eye Institute in Seattle, WA, she finds immense joy in combining her scientific interests, clinical interests and creativity into start up collaborative projects, advanced medical education projects, clinical research as well as innovative, state of the art clinical care. She has lectured internationally, is a frequent keynote speaker at dry eye educational conferences, has written several dozen articles, and has over 35 peer reviewed publications. Her communication style is warm, friendly and full of common sense analogies that she learned as the granddaughter of hard-working Montana cattle ranchers. Her passion for understanding the immunopathophysiology and treatment of diseases has its roots in her experiences as a Molecular Biology Research and Development Associate at Immunex Corporation (now Amgen) prior to medical school. Nicknamed The DryEyeMaster, she has a talent for applying basic science to clinical medicine, and teaching to a wide variety of audiences with a sense of discovery, forward thinking and a healthy dose of fun.
Joel Ciolek, PA-C
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTJoel is a board certified physician assistant (PA-C) practicing in ophthalmology since 2019. With experience in dry eye, oculoplastics, medical retina, vitreoretinal surgery, cataract surgery, and comprehensive ophthalmology, he is able to provide catered dry eye care.
As a PA-C, he can examine, diagnose, prescribe, and provide prognoses to your individual presentation. He is passionate for patient education with a goal to have you be an active participant in your health leading to optimized outcomes.
In his free time, Joel enjoys skiing, swimming, weight lifting, traveling, learning Spanish, attending sporting events and concerts, and a shared meal with family and friends.

AnaLucia
AnaLucia wears many hats at Periman Eye Institute, serving as the Clinic Manager while also assisting in clinical care, phlebotomy, and clinical trials.
She loves being a part of our patient’s healing journey and seeing patients make steps towards their goals. She also loves science based medicine and enjoys nerding out with the rest of the team over interesting cases.
Outside of the office, AnaLucia loves spending time skiing, competitively sailing, and cooking for her friends!

Stacey
Stacey is a dedicated Medical Assistant at Periman Eye Institute, providing expert support in patient care, diagnostics, and treatment coordination. With 15 years of Healthcare and patient experience, she ensures a smooth and comfortable experience for every patient.
Stacey enjoys seeing the growth in patients' healing and making connections with her patients. She enjoys being a listening ear and learning milestones about patients' lives.
Outside the office Stacey enjoys hiking with her family and dog, reading Sci-Fi and horror books and watching crime documentaries!

Raquel
As a Licensed Master Esthetician and Clinical Trials Coordinator, Raquel specializes in advanced skincare treatments for dry eye and ocular surface health while also managing research initiatives. She has worked with Dr. Periman for the last 9 years and has developed a unique expertise within the field.
Dry eye can be debilitating and misunderstood by those who do not suffer from the disease. She loves being able to participate in the journey of getting patients who are suffering, to a better quality of life.
Outside of work she loves to travel, spend time with her grandbabies, and spend time taking care of her orchard and bees!

Ana
Ana is a Licensed Master Esthetician, specializing in skin health solutions tailored to patients with dry eye and ocular concerns. With expertise in advanced skincare techniques, she provides treatments designed to enhance eye comfort.
She loves being able to contribute to improving the overall quality of life for her patients and seeing their improvement after each treatment.
Outside of the office, Ana loves to spend time with her puppies!

Caitleen
Caitleen is a Licensed Master Esthetician with over four years of hands-on experience in advanced skin health, aesthetic treatments, and therapies that support dry eye management.
Dedicated to continual growth, she invests in advanced education to stay current with the latest techniques, technologies, and evidence-based practices. Her approach is personal and patient-centered. With her compassion, warmth, and attention to detail, she ensures every individual feels supported and cared for throughout their wellness journey.
Outside of work, Caitleen loves spending time with her family and enjoys lots of self-care.

Janina
Janina is a passionate and personable Licensed Master Esthetician with a genuine interest in resolving a client’s skincare and dry eye concerns. She enjoys learning the latest in technologies and techniques to give her clients the best possible treatment and results.
She appreciates being able to provide symptom relief while also helping patients’ feel more confident in their eyes and skin.
Outside of work, Janina enjoys training in Muay Thai and kickboxing, skiing and being a big nerd.
